An Exhibition of Print making
Visionory and mentor, Prof. D.G. Pujare is not just a conscientious artist but a man, who tirelessly and genuinely works to reach out to the common man via the medium of art. His expression may take on regional , national or even be accessible to the common man, he opines.
Prof. Pujare has been a prolific artist with a large collection of colour sketches and drawings in the sixty-plus years of his long career. Born in the Konkan, has an ingrained affinity for nature and done a lot of colour sketches sitting on the seashore. A variety of shades and moods of the sea and area around emerge from his nature scapes dabbling in shades of blues and deep greens…
His colour palette undergoes a clear shift, when we view his impressions of a metro city like Mumbai. He unwinds his full colour palette showcases his prowess to the tee. Considering his age, one does not find generation gap. His prints find and justify the thematic approach. He manages to highlight the diversity of his individual perspectives and the great range of his own expression. One does not find the influence of any other artist in / on work.
His imagery is a feast to those, who revere him as a mentor… who follow him… and the art lovers who abide by his work.
Prof. Pujare in his quest for quality art has come to be an innovative technique called “Plate-O-Graph, where the image is transferred on to the paper as in the manner of a lithograph. Through this technique is being used by artists in West Bengal for the last couple of years. It is still new in Maharashtra the best thing about the plat-o-graph is the possibility of making available good works of art in an affordable budget to the common man. This has incidentally been initiated by technique expert and the renowned printmaker artist Pritam Deuskar, who works from his own Thane Studio. All impressions are taken in Preetam’s studio, ably aided by graphic artist Shirish Mitbawkar.
Prof. Pujare has worked tirelessly to display these impressions. His passion for the medium has set a precedent in that he has overcome his Parkinson problem to a great extent. This shows the underlying strength of a great spirit.
